Annabelle chuckled as she watched Richard suck down his food, as if he had never eaten a day of his life. " Your most welcome, Richard." Annabelle said with a smile. " I am glad you enjoy it." Annabelle said watching him devour every last bit. " Richard......do you remeber the field of lavender flowers we use to play in when we were little? If so, do you remember the time I triped and fell. I began to cry, and you came over and helped me. " Annabelle said smile sweetly.

Richard put the remains of his wonderful dinner away and faked puzzlement. "Doesn't ring a bell," he said teasingly, looking away to smile in his cushions. He peeked out from under his blanket at Annabelle, the source of his happy behaviour of late. He pushed the blanket away a little, revealing himself. "Of course I remember," he admitted sincerely, "I wonder if there's a place somewhere near, a place where lavender grows."

" Well, there is an old woman in the market who owns a cart of flowers. She has the most beautifully blooming lavender flowers I have ever seen. I would visit her while you were gone on your quest. The flowers comforted me......they reminded me of you." Annabelle said smiling at Richard. Her baby blue eyes gently gazing at him.

"You know this place better than me already," Richard said. He pulled some pillows behind his back so he could sit up. He returned Anna's look and his head spun. He didn't know if it was the wound or not, but he preferred to think it was some sweeter thing he found in her eyes. But then her eyes reminded him of those of his father. the blue eyes were something many of where he came from had in common. He looked away for a minute, seemingly in pain, though not caused by his wound, but by his past.

" Richard.." Annabelle softly spoke to him. She leaned close to him, placing her warm hand on his arm. " Tell me, what is wrong?" Annabelle asked sweetly. " Please Richard, I only wish to help you." Annabelle said, concerned for Richard.

Richard made an awful sound, both a sob and and a gasp from pain. He closed his eyes and a tear caught in his eyelashes for a second before splashing on his lips. "Not all memories from the days back," he flinched, sighing, "back home are sweetscented. The stench of death clings ever to me." He kept his voice disturbingly even and when he looked at Anna again, there something dark in his eyes. "Maybe it's ground best left unstirred, lest the dead burried down below like it not and raise themselves from their graves."

" Richard...." Annabelle whispered softly. Annabelle softly placed her warm hand on Richard's cheek, wiping his tear with her tumb. She felt deep grief within Richard, she could tell he was haunted by his past. Annabelle looked into his eyes, which for a moment seemed hollow. " Richard please.....I can't see you in such a way. It hurts me to see you like this." Annabelle whispered to him.

A blink, and the bleakness was gone. He smiled as he ran a hand over Anna's cheek, gently scratching her smooth skin. He took her hand with his other and kissed. "If it hurts you, my dear, then I banish my past. Mey it never see daylight again, dawn has come for new memories. Besides, I've not a mind large enough to accomodate more than thoughts of you." Richard looked out the window and tried to get up, but failed. He'd wanted to open it, but his injury still would not let him do much at all.

Annabelle smiled at Richard's words. Her smooth cheeks becoming painted with a pink blush. She then noticed Richard's attempt to open the window. " Please Richard, rest. I will open the window." Annabelle said rising to her feet, she opened the window slightly. " There..." Annabelle said said smiling, her hair softly blowing from the breeze that entered the window.

Richard smiled in thanks. "We should go somewhere," he said suddenly, "not now, but on the morrow maybe. Into town or... Somewhere else, I don't know." The weakened man interlocked his fingers and rested his hands in his lap, his feeting moving up and down under the blanket. He looked like a child. "What say you?" he roared pleasantly.

" I say, that is a great idea." Annabelle said, kissing Richard genlty on the cheek. She ran her fingers through his hair. " But for now you should rest, and regain your health." Annabelle said smiling at him.

The exhausted man nodded and yawned. He settled himself in his blankets and tried to sleep. After a while he succeeded, peacefully dreaming with a pleased smile on his face.
(out, terribly sorry for the lateness of this reply!)

Annabelle smiled as she watched Richard drift off to sleep. She occupied herself with a book of her own, soon falling asleep in the chair herself.
( I am so sorry, I haven't been that active. I promise to check the thread more often and visit the site more often as well.)
