At first it seemed like a good idea but there are also problems with this kind of arrangement. Take now, for instance, where I'm involved in a RP inside a password protected folder. Noone else can read this story, which kinda takes a bit of the fun out of it, in my opinion.
Perhaps there is another way of doing it? If the reason for the password is to let the various factions discuss internal things perhaps a password protected 'war room' could be created?

I do understand that, my friend. Only I think the best way to deal with it is ask others to RP there with you. A war room, such as you suggest, might do the trick, but I fear it will be confusing.

Well, the problem is that you cannot tell people to look there since they cannot enter or ever view what is written. That's what I meant.
Part of the fun (in my most humble opinion) with this kind of game, is the fact that other people may read the stories. The game itself is secondary since there is no risk or challenge involved.

The Overseer hears you and brings this answer from the heavens...
The reasons are:
1) Purely to prevent people from utilising information which they would not be party to. It is only too easy to read the doings of the dark folk and reference them somehow, or begin to grow suspicions when none would exist.
2) To avoid people RPing where their character would not have access at this point.
If the consensus be that passwords be removed, it shall be done. Say not that The Overseer does not watch over the people and bow to their will.

i think that the passwords should be dropped (for the time being) since so much will be going on in the area. besides, things that go on there have rippling effects for the surrounding areas. Is it possible to limit being able to post in certain areas but still be able to read?

I think without creating member groups, that's not possible ^^^ But I'm not sure. I could talk to The Overseer about getting the passwords removed if that's the will of the people, but if she agrees, I will be keeping a close eye on who posts where. I don't want to see humble merchants from the market stumbling into Karakish and such, I'm sure you all understand that.

Bold, to say the least.
*falls ponderously into a chair that isn't there*
[From the ground:] Aye, I suppose we'll see wether it works or not. But I do think it's a justified assumption to say it will.
