The races... well now they only include elves humans and dwarves, right? How about introducing Kenderfolk, if you know it? They're very much alike hobbits in appearance and they're always very, very curious and fiddle with about everything they find.
"There is nothing more horrifying in this world than hearing a Kender say: oops."

Or maybe something similar, like a halfling, or a brownie?

It's a good idea, I'll create a race and a dwelling as soon as I can, I'm a little busy lately, I might have time later today, I might not.
I'll do it though. So what am I to name these creatures? something unique would be preferable. Then I'll build them around hobbit-like tendencies.
I'm going to leave this open for you to suggest names, specific traits, inconsequential details and such. I'll take aonboard all your input.

Okay, I couldn't really figure out the last sentence but I don't see any harm in starting off here... Their name... How about Smallfolk or something (has a nice ring to it, don't you find?) An important personality trait (for me) would be the curiosity. It's genetic and can't be avoided. They're smaller than dwarves, good with tools, they don't live very long: a human being can actually witness the extinction of an entire "Smallfolk" generation which is sad. I'd also say there's two kinds of Smallfolk: the ones that are good with tools and make it their peofession and the ones that prefer to dream and to embrace the ethereal, living a spiritual life. ^I'll start off. <Phew. Euhm, that's my first impression of the lads. V Will add some interesting idea's.

There. Done. *Pays builders and thanks them.*
But I agree with Zoltan with more of the description.
Perhaps they could be wary of other races, and not very trustworthy. We need to work on mental statistics.

Yeah, let's get a conversation going where everyone adds idea's, responds to other people's ideas and so on. TEAMWORK! Not very trustworthy, yet easy to persuade because of their... curiosity. Also, and this is something more difficult, where the hell do these buggers come from? Have they been around since the beginning or is their kind being discovered now? If so... How comes they're not considered as to be savages? Many questions... I wonder? Hmmm, I shall think. I need aid in my blind assumptions. Oy vey! What to do? What to say?

Well I have created a formula:
D = Dwarves, BS = Battle Skills, C = Curiousity, SF = Smallfolk.
D-BS+C=SF
There. I think that they will be very simlar to Dwarves, except they will have less agression, and not be very good in battle.
And to what Zoltan said, maybe they could be very good at adapting to situations, so they could have been around from the beginning of time and have adapted.

Good one (only it doesn't HAVE to be Smallfolk, I like it but more idea's are welcome). And they shouldn't be as fat as dwarves... They're smaller... Less hair... Looks are less important I guess.

Well, we should make a a deatailed description for this new race it should go along the lines of: Name: Average Height: Phsyical Characteristics: Mental Charcteristics: Brief Description:
Maybe we could work along those lines.

Ok, here I go...
Name: Smallfolk... Average height: A bit smaller than an average dwarf. Physical characteristics: they look like small people. They're not very strong. (I'm going over this quickly, still thinking) Mental characteristics: They're all, no exceptions, very curious. Somewhat weary of other races. Smallfolk are explorers, thinkers, tinkerers/mechanics and collectors. Brief description: Smallfolk's life cycles are faster and last less long than those of humans, who don't reach ages like dwarves and elves.

Sounds good to me. We should get Arin to take a look at this and she might accept it.
I still don't really like the name Smallfolk, though. I would prefer Halfling as some people may have heard of it before and can therefore relate to it slightly, making it easier for everyone. But Smallfolk does kinda give a brief insight onto what they are like. But I still prefer Halfling.

Looks good to me. I'm not sure about calling them Halflings though, I wouldn't want people associating them with hobbits, and then assuming it's a LOTR RP site.
Not sure about the lifespan either, how short did you have in mind?

I'm trying to come up with another name than Smallfolk (I like it, but how do you define a single person? A smallfolk?...). Quite satisfied about the rest, though.

Smallfolsman? Smallfolksperson? Nah, their both to long, and they don't sound right. I don't really see how people could think this is a LOTR RPing Board just because one race is called a halfling. Wait I know a site that can generate names for all kind of different things (including races, I think) I'll check it now. EDIT: I've checked it out, and after seeing some randomized names (such as cave gnome, and island elf) I decided to put two together and get Cave Elf. A new type of Elf may make the land seem a little Elf dominated, but sounds good to me. Here's a link to the Race Gen if you want to try it out: seventhsanctum.com/generate.php?Genname=fantasyrace

"Imp." "Elfling."
That's it...
(Got to be something other than just "blabla" elf...)
