WEll, I'm composing a personal reading list of sorts. Right now I really don't have much, so if anyone would give me suggestions, I'd be happy. Seeing as how I posted it in the Fantasy Discussion section, I think you realize i"m looking for fantasy books.
Right now I've got:
Hitchhiker's Guide Series (really only have to read the last two books, though, but may as well start from the beginnign again
LOTR trilogy (I feel as if I'm dirty scum, for not having made it past the second book)
I really want to read the dark Elf Trilogy, I've heard talk about it here, so I may go buy it soon... when money is available
I have to finish up the Tales of the Otori, I don't know if anyone's heard of it. Great little series, it's more historical fiction than anything, but the thing is, it's absolutely NOT historically accurate, and there's a family that has special powers. So I call it fantasy.
That makes:
Hitchhiker's Guide series (finishing) LOTR series (finishing) Dark Elf series (starting-finishing) Tales of the Otori series (finishing)
So any suggestions, I'd like to see if I could get maybe all the way to Christmas on my reading list, then buy some books with Christmas money since I'll hopefully be done by then.

I don't know if you're open to humourous fantasy at all...But if you are I'd recommend reading any/all of Terry Pratchetts Discworld series...Now, in case you're unfamiliar...there are quite a few of them...I think maybe just over 30? I lost count somewhere along the line.
But they're all very funny, and really need not be read in order although it helps.
As for your regular fantasy fair type books...I don't really read those, so I don't know.

George R.R. Martin is working on a good political/military series (A song of ice and fire), with some increasing fantasy elements. I suspect that by the conclusion of the last book, we'll have had our share of high fantasy. I like those books Robin Hobb is a great writer. The Farseer Trilogy is good literature and fantasy... I mean, it's well written, in the first person, very unconventional, great descriptions. Better than George's writing. Farseer Trilogy rules, soon I'm going to start reading Fool's Fate, another trilogy about some of the same people. Those two, I'll gladly recommend, the farseer trilogy being a happy first and the song stuff a deserved second.

Haha, well I've also added another book to the list (it'll be off shortly, I'm already halfway through) it's "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card. It's more sci-fi than anything, but very very great. I should seriously settle down and stop ading more reading. It's keeping me up. When mom said that I should start getting ready for waking up early for school, I don't think she meant "Stay up till three in the morning reading"

dark elf series is good. Also, look for David Edding's 'The Belgariad'. it's a 5 book series but it's great. i've read each book about a dozen times and i still can't put em down.
